Malepa, Jenamiso set to leave ECCO

The duo - who have been a vital cog in the Francistown based side - have reportedly refused to sign new contracts after they allegedly reached a deadlock with the club during negotiations.Mmegi Sport has learnt that the two regular and experienced players have failed to agree on terms with the club in the negotiations, which have been going on for the past four months.

This publication is reliably informed that all other players have renewed their contracts and those earmarked to join the green side of Francistown are set to finalise their deals with ECCO soon. Both Malepa and Jenamiso could not be drawn into discussing their ongoing contractual negotiations saying it is confidential before referring this writer to club management.Mothibedi Lathang, the ECCO vice chairperson, confirmed that the two players are yet to renew their contracts, but would not be drawn into discussing the reasons behind their alleged refusal to sign new deals.

'Almost every player at ECCO has renewed or signed his contract with the exception of Malepa and Jenamiso,' said Lathang.Malepa has served the club as a patriotic striker and servant for almost a decade. However, sources close to developments have hinted that the two players are arguing that the monthly salaries and monetary benefits promised to them in the new deals are the main reasons for refusing to renew contracts.Reports say Malepa is arguing that he deserves a better package bearing in mind that this could be his last dance in the Premiership.

'His argument is clear and comprehensible. Malepa has served ECCO with much commitment. And his attention was undivided when it comes to ECCO. A salary of P6, 000 per month is not bad for a person who served a club for over 10 years,' said our source. As for Jenamiso, the source added that the player has brought shape and stability to the ECCO defence that nearly got to ruin during the 2009/2010 season.  Despite the achievements attained by both players, the source said the management would not yield to their demands.
