Security Systems await BFA response

'We are yet to hear from the association after we wrote them a letter last week asking for talks regarding the matter. We hope they will heed  our request so that they hear what we have to say. It is not a fight and we see nothing wrong with sitting down and listening to one another,' club chairman, Lenamile Letsogile told Mmegi Sport yesterday. The two clubs' new status was confirmed by the new Botswana Football Association (BFA) president, Tebogo Sebego at a media briefing last Friday. Sebego emphasised the need for the association to follow the constitution as well as the Play Rules and Regulations at all times. While Police XI wrote a letter to the association pleading for a lesser punishment than the termination of affiliation, Systems have asked to be listened to. They have said that the reason for their failure to pay the annual fee was that they had asked the region to deduct the amount from the money owed to the team by First Division South.

According to Letsogile, the regional association agreed to the request but was (Security Systems) surprised to receive a letter pointing out their failure to pay and confirming their demotion. The club met their fate as they were about to make their debut in the elite league.Contrary to speculation that the club has gone to court regarding the matter, Letsogile said they have not done that. But he did not rule out the possibility of exploring that route. Their hope now is that the association will accept their request to meet and talk about the issue.Sebego on Wednesday emphasised the need for people to understand that no side has been booted out of the association, but the two clubs have elected by their own failure to pay, not to be members of the association.Letsogile admitted that it is a sad and tough situation for the club administrators as far as explaining the whole situation to the players is concerned. He said it would have been much easier had they received communication from the BFA with regard to a request for talks.
