Ramotswa's St Conrad's choir does it again

In fact, their winning streak started early in the day with the small ensembles. The choir's solo Soprano led the three competitors with 69 points. Sacred Heart of Kopong were second with 67 points and Lobatse's St Mary's third at 66 points. St Conrad's again led the four Bass Solos with 77 points. St Theresa of Lobatse, Sacred Heart and Tsholofelong of Tlokweng followed with 74, 72 and 70 points in that order.

St Bernadette and St Bernard did not participate in the Male voice pieces. St Conrad's did and scored 75 points.

The Ramotswa stars went on to rake in 79 points in the Female voices, followed by St Bernard's (63), and St Bernadette at 59 points.  In the youth choirs' section, Christ the King Cathedral of Gaborone, St Conrad's of Ramotswa and St Peter's of Gabane, competed in the Hymn, the Western piece (Classical music) and the African piece. 

St Peter's led in the Hymn, Letlotlo with 70 points. St Conrad's and Christ the King Cathedral got positions two and three with 68 and 67 points respectively. St Conrad's however hit back by scoring 76 and 83 points to get position one in both the Western and the African pieces, followed by St Peter's with 72 and 70 points. Cathedral were third with 62 and 68 points respectively. Their western piece was He Shall Feed His Flock & His Yoke Is Easy while their African piece was, Go Sego Baswi by J.P. Motuba.  The C-section, in which seven choirs battled it out in three pieces, followed the youths: the Hymn - U binele; the Western piece - the Glory of the Lord and the African - Duda Nonkala.

In the Hymn category, St Bernard of Taung, the Out Station of St Conrad's, showed their prowess with 75 points, seven ahead of Metsimotlhabe's Divine Mercy. The youthful St Mary's of Kumakwane followed in third place with 66 points.

St Mary's of Lobatse, St Emmanuel of Mochudi, Holy Spirit of Mmankgodi, and Thapelong of Kanye got positions four, five, six and seven with 65, 64, 63 and 62 points respectively.  St Bernard went on to score 71 points to lead the section on the Western piece.

Again Divine Mercy and Kumakwane's St Mary got positions two and three, scoring 69 and 67 points respectively.

Holy Spirit was fourth with 61 points and St Mary's Lobatse was fifth with 53 points. Winners and their runners-up will now travel to Polokwane, South Africa, for the regional competition in December. (Sila Press Agency)
