Moyo for Prisons XI?

Prisons' public relations officer (PRO) Aron Lesupi told Mmegi Sport that they were still looking for a coach to replace Digger Montwedi who helped the team win promotion from the First Division six years ago after it was relegated from top flight soccer.

'We have not contacted anyone right now, but we are still looking. We have not talked to Moyo or anyone at this stage,' Lesupi said. The former Zebras forward noted that they decided to relegate Montwedi because he did not meet the requirements for coaching in the Premier League.

'We would have definitely let him continue, but the regulations in the Premier League would not let him. But he would still form part of our technical team. In fact he is still in charge as we speak,' Lesupi said. Moyo has also denied that he was headed to the Warders saying he only returned from Zimbabwe to sort out his issues with Gunners.

'I am not even negotiating with Prisons. I only heard rumours that they were looking to recruit me,' he said. The Village based team got promoted after winning the play-offs. The team was beaten to automatic promotion by Security Systems whose status in the top division hangs in limbo after reports emerged that they failed to pay their affiliation fee to the Botswana Football association.

Prisons have been conducting trials as they look to reinforce their squad for the bigger challenge in the elite league.'We need to have a larger pool of quality players for the tough competition here. We have every intention to stay longer than in the past.

We would have wanted to have a new coach by the beginning of this month because he would have been able to address all the players before the start of the new season but unfortunately we could not. However, we trust that our technical team will select their right players from those on trial,' he said.

Although Lesupi did not mention names Mmegi Sport understands that a lot of the players who turned up for the trials are from First Division and lower leagues.  Mochudi Buffaloes' midfield hard man, Onkokame Matsela, is among them.
