Trouble brewing at Naughty Boys

But reports reaching Mmegi Sport indicate that all is not well at the club with accusations and counter-accusations doing the rounds as supporters feel left out of the affairs of the team. The problems are said to have trickled down to the players and is likely to affect their performance as they attempt to come back to the elite league. Some supporters calling themselves veterans are reported to be working against management and trying to influence certain players to rebel.

The club's financial books are said to be in a mess and supporters have demanded answers from chairman Elijah Katse and his committee. Katse, however, has denied that there is something amiss. He told Mmegi Sport that the money they got from the Premier League campaign last season has been spent in the running of the club. He added that his players are happy and they have not heard anything to the contrary.

'It is not true that our players are not happy with management. If that is the case, then it has not been brought to our attention. But I can tell you there are certain supporters who fail to understand simple things and are trying to create problems,' Katse said.
He termed these supporters bull headed people living in the past. 'As you know with the community teams, there are some of us who grew up to find our parents running these teams and for that reason, we believe that such teams belong to us and we have the right to dictate how they should be run. But we forget that this is modern football and things have to be handled differently,' he said.

The club is still to hold an annual general meeting after missing the February deadline. This has not gone well with some supporters who accuse the management of having a hidden agenda. But Katse explained that they resolved at the last annual general meeting that 'all supporters should register and become members and not only fans. At the same meeting we agreed that only those card carrying members would be allowed to take part in the next annual general meeting which was supposed to take place in February and people have not done that which means they would not be allowed to take part at the next annual general meeting.

'This is meant to give them a chance to register, we are not hiding anything from anyone'.

He said he had personally tried to help speed up the process of registration of members but the same people who are complaining of being left out did not register. 'These people call themselves veterans and they feel that it is their birth right to dictate to those who have been given the responsibility of running the team. The same people are abusing our players during games and one of them was brought before the Customary Court after he insulted the players and the officials,' Katse said.

He added that his management would not heed to the demands of such people as they build the team for the future.
