BCP unveils Mabiletsa

The Kgatleng East Member of Parliament (MP) who resigned from the BNF late last week, is a founding member of the BCP.

Interestingly, his former allies in the BNF with whom he was suspended from the party's executive committee, Nono Kgafela-Mokoka and Ngwaketse West MP, Mephato Reatile, attended the press conference held at President Hotel.

Mabiletsa has however denied word that Kgafela-Mokoka and Reatile, who also quit the BNF last week, are on the verge of joining the BCP as well. Asked if he would not find himself contesting his parliamentary seat against Kgatleng Council chairperson, Stephen Makhura in the next general elections, he referred this reporter to Makhura. He, however, said that he would make it in the next general elections.

'The BCP of today is not the BCP of yesterday. When I defected to BCP, it was still new and small and I can tell you that the BCP has grown and is a strong party,' he said. Mabiletsa described BCP leader, Dumelang Saleshando, as a visionary leader who fully understands and appreciates that leadership is a collective effort.

He told the conference that he, along with his former colleagues in the BNF executive committee, suggested collective leadership to Boko but failed. He charged that this accounts for the current leadership stalemate in the BNF.

The Kgatleng East legislator denied that he quit because he was frustrated. He said that he did not like the leadership style of BNF president, Duma Boko. He said that he has observed that there is good morale in the BCP camp.

'Elections are won by hard workers who are determined to dedicate time and personal resources to inspire the party to win. Leaders who behave like sleeping giants are an impediment to political success,' he said.

Saleshando said they are highly delighted to have Mabiletsa back, adding that he brings with him a lot of experience.
