Charlie formation are BDF champs

The formation won five gold, silver and a bronze to be crowned the champions of the tough competition that featured both male and female soldiers. Second was Delta formation with three gold, two silvers and a bronze while X-Ray formation finished third with two gold, two silvers and a bronze. There was also a separate tug-of-war event that was won by X-Ray formation followed by Bravo Formation.
In the sprint events, Corporal Magaga of 2nd Brigade was crowned champion in the 100m with Lance Corporal Mmape and Lance Corporal Madongo from 1st and 2nd Brigade coming second and third respectively. Lieutenant Mfazo won the women's 200m while Corporal Magaga won his second gold in the same event.
In 400m, Lance Corporal Serameng of Delta emerged the winner and Lance Corporal Marokoje grabbed gold in the 1500m. In field events, Lance Corporal Mpho Seretse and Corporal Rantuanana were winners in high jump and long jump respectively.
Meanwhile, an interesting battle was in the 5000m where renowned short marathoners Raobine Ramoseka and Godiraone Nthompe were competing for honours. Nthompe emerged victorious, finishing ahead of Ramoseka with Lance Corporal Tsele trailing in third place. Unaswi Dambe from Headquarters won the 42.2km marathon.
Fox Trot Formation was the overall winner in the marathon with 166 points followed by Alpha formation with 115 points and X-Ray third with 71 points. In discus throwing, Tonic Taukobong of X-Ray won gold with a throw of 42.2m, followed by Lance Corporal Ditsang of Delta who hit 34.45m and Lance Corporal Kamandisa third at 33.4m.
The annual games are aimed at promoting fitness through sport among the army. Various units of BDF combine to make formations that compete annually. A total of nine formations were competing this year.
