Mabiletsa, Reatile quit BNF?

BNF spokesman Moeti Mohwasa confirmed that the duo submitted their resignation letters to the party yesterday afternoon. Mabiletsa is reported to have called a meeting yesterday morning at which he told his councillors that he was leaving the party.

Three councillors from his constituency confirmed that the legislator called them to a meeting and told them he was on the verge of resigning his BNF membership. Oodi-Matebele councillor Kelekwang Mangwa said the MP has made up his mind and decided to leave the party, saying he was not happy at all in the BNF.

Boseja Central councillor Mpho Morolong said Mabiletsa told them the BNF was no more. 'He said that he had been insulted by people in the BNF and that it was affecting his family and people around him. He also said that the situation in the party is too frosty for him to continue existing within the BNF. A re ga gona party gotlhelele,' he said. Another BNF councillor Boyce Tladi, who attended the meeting, said he was not at liberty to discuss the details of the meeting with the press.

The outspoken Mabletsa, who has been at variance with BNF president Duma Boko especially over the decision of the party to pursue the Umbrella model of cooperation with other opposition parties, resigned from his BNF vice-president's post together with some central committee members including Reatile.

When Mmegi contacted him, the Kgatleng East legislator confirmed the meeting but would not say whether indeed he was leaving the party. 'It was a closed door meeting and I can't disclose what was discussed,' he said. Efforts to reach Reatile by press time were futile as his mobile phone rang unanswered.
