ATI postpones release

The mixtape that he and upcoming motswako artist Noello collaborated to compile was scheduled for release yesterday, but has since been rescheduled because of ATI's contract agreement with current producer, Neo 'Rimzy' Ramosamo.  According to ATI, the 100percent mixtape was recorded with another producer, Risk.

ATI said working with Risk has meant that the mixtape's release date be postponed because not doing so would have been against Rimzy's interests.

He said that his contract with Rimzy allows him to work with other producers as long as the projects do not interfere with his (Rimzy's).

ATI and Rimzy currently have a mixtape titled Incredible Is The Mixtape, which was released in April this year and is currently on the shelves.'Because of this, Rimzy felt that the Incredible and 100percent mixtapes would compete in the market and in turn make a loss on profits,' ATI said.  He said they have decided it is for everybody's best interest that the 100percent mixtape be released later, whilst promoting Incredible Is The Mixtape continues.

He, however, said his contract with Rimzy ends next year April, which is the time the 100percent mixtape would be released.

Nonetheless singles from the mixtape have been released to the public including hit song When I Grow Up, which already has a remix version and a video.

ATI said that despite all this he would like to continue working with Rimzy even after their contract expires.  He, however, emphasised his interest in working with other producers.  'I would also like to do collaborations with artists such as Vee and DJ Cleo from South Africa in future,' he said.

ATI said he was working on his debut album Polao Ya Motho that is scheduled for release next August.  He said with his album, he would like to challenge the common way music is done in Botswana.  'I want to make music that has a purpose and can change people's lives as we have seen with internationally accredited musicians,' he said.  ATI said that if a foreign artist can manage to touch a Motswana's life then it should not be difficult for a local musician to do the same as they have the advantage of knowing what is relevant to their fellow countrymen.'I would also like to be the first artist in Botswana to be managed like a professional business,' he said.

Meanwhile, ATI is composing a theme song for a Vision 2016 organisation and Sesigo.  He is also working on a new campaign for CA Sales' new product Monsta Pop (sweets).  He said that he is also trying to register his company, Batho Bame that would soon be signing artists.
