Music stars grace Limkwo freshers' Ball

Mosako was the first musician scheduled to perform for the party-hungry first-year students, but his performance was delayed due to equipment problems.

When he was supposed to jump on stage to wow the crowd, his music disc would not play as it was apparently incompatible with the equipment that was being used.  Because of this, another player had to be roped in for the show to continue.

DJ Cani Mackhenzo who was supposed to come in after Mosako was forced to do an early performance.  He nonetheless moved the crowd as he mixed house, Zambian music, hip-hop and RnB among other music genres to the crowds' amusement.

However, his set lasted a bit too long, which ended up agitating the performance hungry crowd.   After an hour of disc jockeying, Mackhenzo made way for Mosako who seemed disappointed to have kept his fans waiting.

However, this did not deter him as he energetically jumped on stage to perform hit track Bashianyane.  Mosako delivered hit tracks from his 2009 offering MSK, which up to now sounds relevant to revellers. He went on to perform Thuntsha, Lesa Go Mbella and Mosako O Nketsang.   The crowd was, however, left wanting more. The talented lad seemed to have had more under his sleeve as he had a surprise collaboration who did not appear on the line-up.  He performed Come Together and he unveiled his surprise (who also collaborated with him in the hit single), the pint sized house-kwasa sensation Odirile 'Vee' Sento who nearly caused a stampede in the Limkokwing multipurpose hall with his entrance as everyone scrambled to see if it was possible touch him.   Vee, as usual, was energetic on stage, moving up and down and at one point removing his coat as he unleashed his dance moves.

Thereafter, the crowd enjoyed performances from Juju Boy and Mapetla who performed tracks from their latest albums. The crowd was also moved by Wizards of the Desert who performed their latest hit single, Mokento.  The track has grown to be a favourite amongst nightcrawlers, possibly because of its vulgar yet comical content.

Two South African artists, Howza and the main act Da L.E.S of the award-winning hip-hop crew Jozi, were also roped in as special performances.

Howza's performance was, however, not impressive as it went on too long sending the crowd into an agitated state.

It seemed all the crowd wanted was to see Da L.E.S and call it a night.  Da L.E.S, however, jumped on stage around 2am, hours later than he was scheduled to perform. He nonetheless lived up to the crowd's expectation as he performed tracks such as We On Fire, Candy and Respect from his debut 13-track solo album titled Fresh To Def.

The MCs for the night were former Big Brother Africa Amplified (BBAA) housemate, Miss P and Yarona fm personality, Dollar Mac.

Meanwhile, the Gaborone Institute of Professional Studies (GIPS) and the University of Botswana (UB) celebrated their Freshers' Balls on Friday and Saturday respectively.
