He retires at a time when the club claims he is under suspension. He was suspended together with Jomo Mgadla for alleged misconduct. However, Molebatsi disputes the club's claims and said he quit a long time ago. The former Zebras winger, said he decided to hang up his boots after realising that there were some people out to destroy him.
He said he was shocked to learn through the media that he had been suspended at Satmos. He said this could not be true because by the time the allegations emerged, he had already informed Satmos director, Mooketsi 'China' Mading that he was retiring.
'I have had bad publicity my entire career. The same things happened even during my days at Nico United and Motlakase Power Dynamos, so I thought it was high time I called it quits. I have played my part in the development of football in this county,' said the emotional Molebatsi.
He said he is viewed as a bad influence but that is untrue. Molebatsi, who starred for TAFIC before joining Nico, said trouble starts when clubs fail to fulfil their promises. He lambasted Satmos for going to the media about him, yet the club failed to pay him.
However, he said he would not fight the club over payment, but would instead move on with his life. Since the beginning of the season, the left-footed Molebatsi played only four games for The Cheetahs.
He said he had informed the management of his decision to quit football when the team got promoted to the Premier League. He said playing for Satmos was as good as volunteering and it was time he did something else.
Satmos spokesperson, Mpenzeni Sambandawe said he was not ready to comment on issues raised by Molebatsi.Instead, he said their priority at the moment is to play football and improve their position on the log.Satmos anchors the log without a win in nine games.
Meanwhile, Molebatsi has won a case of unfair dismissal and unpaid benefits against Motlakase after he took his former club to the Industrial Court. Molebatsi dragged Chouka-Chouka to court after being sacked at the end of 2009/10 season when he was still left with 10 months on his contract.
