Prisons XI coach warns against complacency

The First Division (South) side is ahead of the pack with 12 points after four straight wins and look determined to tighten their grip at the top.'It is too early to celebrate, it is good to have the team playing so well in the early stages, because it helps the players' confidence as the league intensify. But it would be suicidal to make any conclusions at this stage, the fact that we are at the peak means we are now the target,' Montwedi told Mmegi Sport.

However, the former Prisons XI player has denied that he is under pressure to maintain top spot until the last game of the league.'I know people expect a lot, especially that unlike the past seasons we have started well this time, but I have been a player and I know how to handle pressure. Right now I do not feel any pressure because our wins are a result of good play, we have not won the games by luck,' he said. The coach said that the young players signed during the transfer window, have gelled well with the rest of the team and that they were benefiting from the experience of veteran players like former Zebras' centre back ,Kabelo Kgosiang,  Tatenda Mbikiwa, Kabelo Motlhabane and Gaolebe Mokolokoto.

Another reason for the good form, according to Montwedi, is management's commitment towards helping the team return to the Premier League. 'Our management is showing more commitment to the team this time.Everything is taken care of and it makes the job of the technical team easier and the players are able to focus,' he said.

Prisons' strength this season, could be tested when they take on in-form Security Systems this weekend. The second placed debutants would be eyeing top spot. The new comers like their opponents are still to drop a point and could prove dangerous against the warders at the Village ground on Sunday. But Montwedi is not shaken. He told Mmegi Sport that they take every game seriously and that all the teams in the league were not there by default.
