Vee drops sixth album

Now, the diminutive Odirile Sento aka Vee is about to join this elite group with the release of his sixth album in six years called, Kasiology. This follows Introloction (2001), Lamalanga (2002), Kasi Angels (2003), Ntja Mme (2005) and Ditshipi Tsame (2006).

Introloction was a strictly Kwaito album, very much half baked but the popular song Pompa Tswididi and his  hoarse voice ensured that Vee got a second chance to record another album with Prez Beatz and Goof of the now popular production crew, Earth. Lamalanga with hits like Hola Kasi and Lamalanga really got Vee's career off the ground. The album made so much noise that Eric Ramco Records took note of him and quickly established a working relationship with him.

That marriage gave birth to Vee's biggest album to date and perhaps one of the top five most selling local albums in the country ever, Kasi Angels. The hits Taku Taku and Letlhale were just as big as Franco's Ke Lela Le Lona and Culture Spears' Mmadikokwana and Kulenyane.

Kasi Angels attracted attention from beyond Botswana borders as South African producers also jostled to sign the rising star. Malaika's super producer Guffy won the race for his signature, albeit controversially. His biggest mistake was openly undermining Vee's previous record label at the star's Ntja Mme CD listening session at Qbar.

His disparaging remarks about Eric Ramco Records drew fierce and widespread condemnation from Batswana and sections of the media that killed the album well before it hit the record store shelves.

The album never even got to be released in South Africa as widely anticipated. Suffice to say, Vee left Guffy Creations within a year to return home where he opted to start his own record label, Black Money Makers.

Vee set up his own studio and established contacts with young producers he had previously worked with and began working on his next album that he had complete control over.

 With the media and fans who did not like his move to South Africa back in his corner, he dropped Ditshipi Tsame in 2006. The album helped re-establish him back in his homeland with relatively good sales. He once again became the darling of Batswana music lovers until Culture Spears released their monster-hit album Kulenyane and Mapetla captured the hearts of kwaito lovers with his new album Phanzi Phezulu. This has undoubtedly energized Vee who certainly hates to be second or worse still third.

 Kasiology, the new 8-track album may well put him right back on top of the heap. With two monster house tracks by Clockworx, a slamming kwaito tune by Skizo, one house tune and four house kwasa tunes by Kenny, this a must buy album. The album should be in stores on Friday 30th March 2007. Vee is so confident about this album that he reckons he can sell over 10, 000 copies in the next four weeks!
