Kutlwano coach claims sabotage after defeat

The coached claimed that his side's 3-1 loss was caused by sabotage. He accused some Botswana Volleyball Federation (BVF) officials for plotting to bring down his team.

He claimed the odds were stacked against Kutwlano from the onset as some BVF officials did not want his team to retain the title.  He said that is why the team was docked points for arriving late for their game against Victory Seeker in Mahalapye.  'I am bitter and I am not going to hide it,' Samuel told journalists after the match.

He accused BVF vice president (technical), Odisitse Keotsene of siding with Mafolofolo. Samuel said Keotsene took the decision to dock points from Kutlwano.  'I am sure if we did not forfeit points then we could have won this league.  This was done deliberately to put us under pressure,' he claimed.  However, Keotsene did not take the accusations kindly. ' He is lying, I was not there when the decision was taken,' he said.

A fuming Keotsene said Kutlwano were not honest about why they were late.  'Initially they said they had a breakdown, but in their written report, they changed their story saying their vehicle arrived late to take them to Mahalapye.  Kutlwano should just accept that they made a mistake and stop blaming me,' he said.  Keotsene added that it has since emerged that when Kutlwano said they had a breakdown, they had not even left Gaborone.

But Samuel insists they had a breakdown and immediately informed the league organising committee.

He wondered why they were punished, while they have been made to wait when other teams and no points were docked from the latecomers. Keotsene responded that Samuel's complaint is baseless.

'Kutlwano is not the only team that lost points (in this way) this season,' said Keotsene.
