Botswana Scoops Four Gold At Africa Meet

Tshube who participated in all of Batswana men 100m B race overcame Mmoloki Seele and Seonyatseng Nthompe who got position two and three respectively. The men 100m A race was won by South African Kagisho Kumbane ahead of Namibia's Hietjivirue Kaanjuka and Tlhalosang Molapisi of Botswana.
Botswana athletes showed their dominance in the men's javelin when Isani Lubinda and Mapeza Waniwa got position two and three respectively behind Mauritian athlete, David Lam Vo Hee. Kabo Gabaseme was unlucky not to get a gold after putting up a sterling performance in the men's 5,000m. He relegated to third place by South Africa's Tshimano Setone and Tony Wamulwa of Zambia.
Onalenna Oabona and Mogomotsi Gaosego did Botswana proud when they finished first and third respectively in the men 800m. Zimbabwe's Crispen Mutakanyi was second. Botswana's Bonolo Maretele won a bronze in the women's long jump. Compatriots Khumoetsile Ngope and Kelebogile Mokgatle won silver and bronze medals in the women's 400m B race. They finished behind Zimbabwe's Sandra Chimwaza.
Speaking to Monitor Sport after the event, Ramohube said that he is happy with his performance. He said that the competition was not as tough as he thought it would be. He added that he has competed with his opponents several times before and beat them. 
The 800 metres champion, Oabona said that it was his first competition this year and it was a good time to check his fitness. He stated that he was beating the Zimbabwean athlete, Mutakanyi for the second time after overcoming him in 2004. 'That time I got position two and he got position three with Glody Dube finishing tops,' he said.
