Sankuyo on the verge of First Division promotion

The team is doing well in the promotional play-offs which started last weekend. They lead the log with 12 points and a 100 percent record. Sankuyo seek to extend their lead this weekend when the play-offs shift to Tswapong.

The Nhabe side is six points clear of nearest rivals, Sladden. Field Masters of Boteti region are finding it tough as they are stuck at the bottom of the log having lost all their three games. Other clubs in the fray are Peace Makers of Bobonong, Tip Toes (Palapye), Tshikinyega (Mahalapye) and Panda FC (Kasane). The top two clubs will make it to the First Division North. Sankuyo only need a draw to seal their place in the First Division.

Nhabe Regional Football Association (NRFA) chairperson, Kgato Motai, said it is their wish to see Sankuyo promoted to the First Division. He said the level of competition is high in the play-offs but hoped that the Nhabe side will sail through. 'They already have one foot in and that gives us advantage,' he said. He expressed worry that the club will be stretched financially if it is promoted because of the long distance travel to honour fixtures in places like Francistown and Mahalapye. Motai said clubs from regional leagues have quality players but lack motivation because there is no sponsorship.
