Six players to share Coke Cup prize money

Coca-Cola Cup organising committee chairman, Gaolatlhe Kelesitse told Mmegi Sport that they would have tried a different formula to choose the top striker if one of the six players scored in the final. 'We would have maybe said although they are tied, the player scored in the toughest stage and therefore declared him the top striker but it is only fair that they share this amount since all the goals were scored in the earlier stages,' he said.

Sageby Sandaka (Mochudi Centre Chiefs), Sekhana Koko (Township Rollers), Molatlhegi Podile (Modipane United), Julius Fane (Peace Makers), Duncan Kgopolelo (Wonder Sporting) and Lewis Sekwainyana (Kanye Swallows) have each scored four goals in the competition, which was eventually won by Extension Gunners. The decision to share the spoils means each of the players will now pocket P2,500. Last year, Zimbabwean marksman, Terrence Mandaza was unstoppable in the tournament with nine goals when his side Rollers clinched the title.

Meanwhile, in the coach of the tournament award, Maxwell Moyo and Oris Radipotsane are in the running. The duo have also been nominated for the coach of the season award in the be MOBILE Premier League. Uniao Flamengo Santos' coach, George Mogopodi and Rahman Gumbo (Chiefs) have also been nominated for the Coca-Cola award after leading their sides to the semi-finals of competition. Gumbo was the winner last year after leading Rollers to victory.

Raphael Nthwane of Extension Gunners, Noah Maposa (Chiefs) and Segakolodi Ntima (Motlakase) are vying for the goalkeeper of the season award. The most prestigious award (player of the tournament) will be contested by Kgololo Leteane, Hendrick Moyo, Kemmy Pilato (all Gunners), Thabiso Khunwane (Chiefs) and Jomo Bolofete (Motlakase). Last season, Edwin Moalosi walked away with the award ahead of his Rollers' team mates, Edwin Olerile and Sekhana Koko who was playing for the Chiefs at the time.

There is no surprise in the referee of the tournament award category with Uyapo Julius, Tebogo Ramocha and Lekgotla Johannes pitted against each other. Moemedi Monakwane,  Bakwena  Semankalele and Gabokwalwe  Gaolekwe will compete for the assistant referee of the tournament award.  The awards' ceremony is billed for Friday this week at Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC).
