Kabo Holland, who is accused of the murder of his girlfriend in October 2009, was once represented by Tshekiso Tshekiso who worked for Kgalemang and Associates.
The accused person has now been asked to decide whether he wants to find another attorney or retrieve his file from the curators and give it to Tshekiso. Holland appeared before Justice Terrence Rannowane but Tshekiso said the file on the matter remained at Kgalemang and Associates.
'The file on this matter remains with Kgalemang and Associates and at the moment the law firm is under the curatorship of Mr Sechele and Mr Chileshe,' Thekiso said. It was recently reported that Kgalemang and Associates had ceased operating and had since been put under the curatorship of Bengbame Sechele of Sechele and Gaobatlwe Attorneys and Charles Chileshe, a certified public accountant of Chartac Certified Public Accountants.
Tshekiso further said he had attended this particular mention because he was the one who had set the dates and he did not want the matter to be a no show. 'I wanted to come to make the explanation as I was the one who set the dates for today,' he said.
Tshekiso told the court that the date already set for trial was suitable for him, but it was up to the accused person to continue with him or find another attorney. Tshekiso has since joined Ditiro and Jani Legal Practitioners.
The accused said he has been looking into what to do about an attorney. 'By the end month, I will find a lawyer because we have been discussing it at home,' Holland said. Justice Rannowane set June 29 as the date for mention at which the court will get an update on the issue of the attorney.
The accused was charged with murder after he allegedly murdered his girlfriend by bashing her head with a rock in 2009. State witnesses have alleged that the accused told them that a strange human-like figure with big buttocks sneaked up on he and his girlfriend from behind as they walked and bashed his girlfriend with a stone. Fourteen state witnesses will be called.
