BNF committed to opposition unity

We would like to make it clear that the BNF is committed to the cooperation project. At its Congress held in Mochudi last year, the party members instructed the Central Committee to negotiate with other opposition parties with a view to establishing a united opposition against the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP).

This position has not changed and at no point has the BNF refused to commit itself to any particular model. Our negotiating team has the full mandate to negotiate any model of cooperation with other parties.   The party was therefore shocked with the article that appeared in Mmegi which doubted our sincerity. The article is not only malicious but is also intended to drive a wedge between the BNF and other opposition parties.

We urge BNF members and the public not to be distracted by this article. The party remains committed to this noble project. In the terms of reference of the negotiations, all questions relating to the negotiations should be directed to the Convener and not to individual parties. We are therefore constrained to comment any further on this matter.
