MELS contesting by-elections

In a press statement, signed by the party president Themba Joina, the party said, 'For the record, we would like to state that we are contesting Shashemooke ward in the Tonota South Constituency. We are fielding Comrade Given Ntaise, a young comrade who grew up and was trained through the structures of the organisation.'

The party further says that their records indicate that they have a lot of members in Selebi-Phikwe East constituency. While Shashemooke falls in the Tonota South Constituency, Ikageleng ward is in the Selibe-Phikwe East Constituency. Noting the collapse of their structures in Selebi-Phikwe East Constituency, MELS adds that, 'Comrades are working around the clock to activate and/or build our structures to enable us to go through the process of electing a candidate. So far, no candidate has been identified, however, we are interested in the whole constituency in 2014. Our cadres will continue to campaign in that ward to register members and set up structures.' Incidentally, Joina, a Gaborone-based attorney, is a resident of Shashemooke.
