Not over yet in Kweneng

'The main objective of the meeting is to announce that Bakwena Chieftainship is now returning to its rightful heirs being Kealeboga Sechele II,' reads part of the press release.
Moeng caused controversy in 2005 when he called a Kgotla meeting in the main Bakwena Kgotla to announce that he is the rightful heir to the Bakwena throne.  He was ridiculed and sent packing.  After that, he tried to call a Kgotla meeting in Ntloedibe ward. The meeting was a flop.

Contacted for comment, Kgosi Kgari Sechele III said yesterday that he was in the dark about the meeting.  He said that he had not been invited and that he was not going to attend even if he were invited. Sechele confirmed that after the Kgotla meeting two years ago, Moeng disappeared and the two of them have never met since then.

Outspoken businessman, Julius Bodigelo, described the proposed meeting as 'madness and hypocrisy.' 'Ke botsenwa fela, bolwetse.'  He said that there are politicians who are trying to destabilise Bakwena Chieftainship because they are disappointed that they cannot control Kgosi Kgari.

He called on the government to take action now because this had the potential of dividing Bakwena.  Bodigelo confessed that though he belonged to  a faction that was opposed to Kgari's installation, he has now accepted him because he is recognised as Bakwena paramount chief by the biggest court in the country.  He also expressed confidence in both Kgari and Keineetse as strong men.

Neo Motlhabani also labelled the meeting as a waste of time and an act of cowardice.  He also holds the view that there is political motivation behind the two men, Moeng and Kgosiencho, behaving like they are doing.  'The politicians are using them to push their agendas,' he said.

Recently, Kgosi Kgari appointed Keineetse Sebele to be his assistant amid protests from some sections of the Morafe.  Some preferred to have Moiteelasilo Sechele, a younger brother of Kealeboga Sechele who was fighting with Kgari for the chieftainship.  However, Kgari was not intimidated and he stood firm to his choice.  Minister of Local Government, Margaret Nasha, appointed Sebele, who is now working as Bakwena Deputy Chief.
