Merafhe is as fit as a fiddle - OP

In a very brief response, government spokesman, Jeff Ramsay, confirmed that, 'on medical advice, the Vice-President Merafhe was admitted to hospital yesterday for some tests. He is otherwise in good condition'.  He continued, 'further to the above, while this office is not in a position to go into private medical matters, we can nonetheless dismiss the reported rumour that His Honour suffered a coronary arrest'.

Latest reports by yesterday evening suggested that Merafhe was in stable condition at one of the local hospitals, but measures were put in place to fly him abroad should his condition fail to improve. Meanwhile, there are reports that President Ian Khama was meeting with his cabinet to audit their performance and map the way forward on whether they should be retained as ministers or face the axe. It was rumoured early this year that Merafhe was likely to be dropped from cabinet.

Among the ministers that the President reportedly met are Minister of Health, John Seakgosing, Minister of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism, Kitso Mokaila, and Minister of Trade and Industry, Dorcus Makgato-Malesu.

Yesterday, Malesu laughed the suggestion off saying people are speculating on any meeting between the president and his cabinet ministers spreading falsehoods about a cabinet reshuffle. She denied meeting the president in the past few days.
