Masomere surfaces at Masvingo United

He was sacked by Be Mobile Premiership side, Notwane, last year after a poor run of form and was replaced with the current man, Moeteledi Chaenda.

Masomere confirmed the development to Zimbabwe media saying he wanted to restore 'Yuna Yuna', as Masvingo are affectionately known, to their former glory days. 'I am now back at Masvingo United as head coach. I want to propel the team back to its winning ways,' he was  quoted by Newsday.

Masvingo United was relegated last season before bouncing back this year. Masomere, an award -winning coach, had left the Premiership side in 2007.  The popular Masvingo side is now under the stewardship of businessman Petros Mutema, who owns a chain of supermarkets in and around Masvingo.

The chain-smoking mentor Masomere joined the club in 2005, taking over from Fewdays Musonda.  He was coming from AmaZulu where he was crowned coach of the year in 2003 after winning his first-ever league championship.  He steered Masvingo United to lift the Independence Trophy, OK Woza Bhora and almost made history when he was nearly crowned the first coach from outside Harare to lift the Premiership title but his dreams were shattered in the last game against Dynamos where Masvingo lost 2-1 in the dying minutes in a memorable match at Mucheke Stadium.
