DC to hearSatmos-Hotspurs' feud

Hotspurs lodged a complaint with the DC, arguing Satmos' defender, Tafadza Zombe, was ineligible to play as he was still serving a two-match suspension following his red card against Mahalapye Highlanders. Satmos deny any wrongdoing.

First Division North Secretary Moraole Sikwane told Mmegi Sport that the case will be heard tomorrow. Sikwane said Hotspurs complained that Satmos used their Zimbabwean-born defender when he was allegedly serving suspension. Hotspurs argue that Zombe was supposed to sit out of the Hotspurs' game, which the Mahalapye side lost 2-1 to surrender top spot to Satmos. Sikwane said the committee would make judgement based on submissions from both camps. If Satmos are found guilty, they face the possibility of losing three points and concede goals. 'It will depend on the evidence presented on the table tomorrow,' he said.

In other matters to be heard tomorrow, Tonota FC, No Mathata, and Orapa Bucks will appear before the DC after failing to pay P1, 000 fine imposed by the league committee after the clubs boycotted fixtures. The three, together with Sua Flamingoes, did not honour some first round fixtures, insisting that a league sponsor should be found first. Sikwane said the four teams were given 30 days to pay the fine during which only Sua Flamingoes paid.

'The other three clubs did not pay the fines and we are looking forward to hear[ing] their reasons for not paying within the given period of time. We have not yet received any proof indicating the payments [were made],' Sikwane said.

He further said Tonota FC, No Mathata and Orapa Bucks, are likely to face suspension from the league depending on the reasons they give for failure to honour fixtures or pay the fines.  The saga drags on as Maun Terrors and Maun Tigers failed to honour their games against Tonota FC and Hotspurs over the weekend respectively.
