Divorce made me strong-Mokhali

Speaking to Showbiz in an interview over the weekend after his performance in Selebi-Phikwe, Mokhali said he has been absent from the music scene, after the divorce because it was hard for him to concentrate. He revealed that after divorcing his former wife, Mpule Mokhali he was going through so much pain. He said during their good times, Mpule gave him courage to sing and compose new songs.  He admitted that during their marriage he felt that divorce was inevitable. 'When I sang the song Mpule, it was a prophecy. I could foresee that we were going to divorce. My ancestors revealed to me that she was doing bad things.'

He said he decided to go on separation with her. Mokhali explained that during his 12-years absence from the music scene some thought he was dead and others felt that he had retired. He promised his fans that he is now back with his live performances that have made him household name over the years.  Mokhali mentioned that he has a busy schedule this month. On December 22, he will perform in Tlokweng, the day after that he will be in Gaborone. On December 24 he will grace Maun and on Christmas day he will perform in Tutume. The day after that he will be in Mookane and December 27 Jazz Brew. Mokhali will also perform in Tonota and Kakamane club on December 30 and on New Year's Eve respectively.

Mokhali has released 26 albums to date and in 2006 he married Ontlametse and the two have been blessed with a son. Meanwhile, Stream Jazz Band, which backed Mokhali, has released a new album. The album is a week old in the market. The band lead singer, Thabo Mothabaputhi said the album is entitled 'Tsa le Fatshe'. The band members are, Tumelo Mafoko (keyboard), Aulo Kasimba (drums), Rapiki Mmolotsi (base guitar) and Mode Kulaman (second keyboard).

Mothabaputhi pointed out that they are not just backing Mokhali only, but any artist who might need their assistance. As long as the artist gives them a CD so that they can practice the songs on time before the show, they are good.
