Last week the troupe won itself P800 cash from President Khama and his entourage after group leader, Kgathatso Sebetlela impressed.
Magwera would soon put on a show to remember, as they danced to the tune of whistles and drums for the guests. In fact Magwera turned the kgotla meeting into a dance festival of sorts as they went on and on doing their thing until the master of ceremony had to ask them to leave the stage.
The group leader had complained that event organisers often leave cultural music performers out of the programme during high profile events such as the visit of the president to their village.
When Khama responded by inviting the group to show off their skills, he found them ready. All their group leader had to do was to shout, ' Magwera, come out!' And out of their 'hiding places' the dancers came from within seconds, girded in their traditional dance outfit that included black jackets on top of white and yellow t-shirs. They impressed the audience with their use of the jackets to produce an entertaining dance repetoire. The ceremonial feathers erected on the male dancers' foreheads were also artistically used to perform the graceful head banging dance that left the audience yearning for more.
