BFA vice president (administration), Boyce Sebetela said the mother body is still assessing tenders. All Kasi's three-year contract with BFA expires on August 31.
All Kasi marketing director, Frank 'Barnes' Maplanka said in the interim, his company will dress the Zebras during its last AFCON qualifiers assignment next Saturday.
'Yes, we will dress the national team against Togo,' was all Maplanka could say in an interview with Mmegi Sport yesterday. The BFA is expected to announce a new sponsor soon, with All Kasi expressing interest in continuing to dress the national team.
After placing adverts in the media, the BFA received three bids from All Kasi, Puma and Umbro. All Kasi succeeded Puma as the Zebras technical sponsor in 2008. Puma's marketing director, Brett Bellinger, recently told Mmegi Sport that they are keen to rekindle the relationship.
BFA vice president (administration), Boyce Sebetela said the association is still looking at the issue although no conclusion has been reached.
'We are still at evaluation stage. I am not sure when we are going to conclude the process. We are actively looking at the matter but I cannot say when we will make a decision. It is a complex process,' Sebetela said.
The BFA had set stringent conditions for applicants, among others, demanding P1.4million per season from the new sponsor. The demands were widely condemned by most local fans who felt the process was meant to close out All Kasi.
Earlier, BFA officials had indicated their unhappiness at the local company's failure to fulfil its contractual obligation. All Kasi responded with a scathing attack, accusing the BFA of disclosing some confidential contract information to the public. However, when the storm died down, All Kasi submitted its tender documents on the last day of submission.
