Maposa 'begs' to return to Chiefs?

The national team goalkeeper is said to have told Molome that GU had not honoured some of the promises they made when he signed a two-year deal before the start of the season.

'He called the chairman just over a week ago and the chairman put him on loudspeaker in the presence of players and members of the technical team. Maposa said he knew he made a mistake (by leaving) but his heart was still with Chiefs,' a source said.

Chiefs' communications manager Clifford Mogomotsi confirmed the development, but said it would be hard to sign him because he has a running contract with GU.

'As you might be aware Maposa has already signed for GU and it will be difficult  for him to come out of that contract. We have already said if Maposa wanted to stay he could have stayed, there was an opportunity for that.

But having signed a contract with GU it is always going to be difficult to get him,' Mogomotsi told Mmegi Sport.

While Maposa is said to have claimed that GU have not honoured their promises, revelations are that there is no truth in that.

GU chairman Fidelis Nkomazana dismissed the issue, saying his club had honoured all its promises to Maposa.

'We have honoured everything and that may not be true because Chiefs wrote to us saying they are not signing Maposa's transfer letter claiming he was owing them P60,000.  They wanted us to pay that money but we said that was a personal issue.

Maposa asked them to bring proof to him and his family, he claims he does not owe Centre Chiefs anything,' Nkomazana said.

Maposa's move away from Chiefs has been riddled with controversy with the Kgatleng giants at some stage claiming the player instructed them not to release his registration book. The Premier League had to issue GU a new registration after Chiefs refused to release it claiming the player owes them P60,000.  Maposa refused to comment on the matter, saying he had moved on and was now a GU player.

'I know you journalists you can write whatever you want,' he said.
