Golf, dinner, comedy & charma-gal, as BDP raises P400, 000 for charity

Newly-appointed Assistant Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Vincent Seretse, who also played some golf earlier on, says P310, 000 was raised during the golf day as tens of local companies and their directors poured at the Gaborone Golf Club in their flash cars to play golf and interact with the Botswana Democratic Party bigwigs. The other P90, 000 was raised in pledges during the dinner.

The glittering golf and dinner event was put together by the BDP to raise money for charity and Seretse says all the funds will go towards helping the community. Acting Vice President Ponatshego Kedikilwe and Party treasurer, Satar Dada, said the golf and dinner event is an initiative by the party to reach out to the corporate people that are usually missed during political rallies.

Both BDP officials used the event to assure the business community that the party is committed to providing a conducive climate for their businesses to thrive, and for investors and their families to prosper.

The party mobilised its MPs, ministers and other officials to interact with the corporate leaders, and Kedikilwe said this is a first for the party and promised that more of such interactions will be staged in future.

It was a colourful night yet with a touch of simplicity as dress code was not strict. Comedian Dignash Morapedi provided a light moment throughout the evening, while Charma-gal's energetic performances and her signature tune, Re sia le Matebele, got golfers up and dancing along.
