Drunken muso faces P30,000 fine and jail

The Ramotswa police have confirmed that the man was drunk and he did not respect a stop sign on the road to Mankgodi.

He hit a vehicle that was travelling from Lobatse to Gaborone injuring a seven year-old boy who is in the Intensive Care Unit at Princess Marina Hospital.

Assistant Superintendent, Mothusi Phadi, said the man was returning from the 1000km Desert Race in Kumakwane and was as drunk as a skunk. The accident occurred at around 1pm, he confirmed. He said that the man was driving a Toyota Land Cruiser station wagon and was in the company of two passengers who sustained minor injuries.

The vehicle travelling from Lobatse had five people including the driver.

The man will appear in court next week facing several charges ranging from causing death by drunken driving and driving a motor vehicle while unfit to do so.

Police investigations are ongoing. Phadi said the man introduced himself as a musician named Letso Mafhoko.
