Police officers in court for traffic bribes

Obed Gilly Bodigelo (38) and Kgotlaetsile Setsiba (37) appeared before the Francistown magistrate on Tuesday to face the corruption charges.

The officers, who are employed at the Tonota Police Station, are alleged to have received the R1,000 from Noah Mtala while patrolling the A1 road this month. This was done to avoid laying charges against Mtala for overtaking at a wide continuous line near Shashe River in Tonota.

Prosecution counsel Archie Makgoa told the court that investigations are still ongoing. He however did not oppose bail for the accused persons on condition that they abide by the laid conditions.
