Mookodi appointed BFA CEO

BFA president, David Fani, confirmed the appointment, although he did not give further details. He said the association will issue a media statement. Mookodi is a former Gaborone United chairperson. He was head-hunted after an initial recruitment exercise failed to get the right candidate.

Mookodi has worked for Kgalagadi Breweries Limited which has been heavily involved in local sport. He is passionate about soccer and tennis and still serves in the GU committee. Kgotlele was first suspended after match-fixing allegations emerged following a hastily arranged Zebras trip to China in September last year. He was eventually dismissed early this year.

The BFA advertised the post early this year but a consultancy firm helping in the recruitment process ruled that the applicants did not fit the bill. Among candidates rumoured to have applied for the post are Maokaneng Bontshetse, former CEO Thabo 'Styles' Ntshinogang, Tebatso Hule, Batlang 'Comma' Serema, Lyndon Mothusi and Marang Morakaladi. In June, the BFA roped in a human resource consultancy firm, HRMC Management Consultants to handle the recruitment.

At the time, Fani said the human resource company was expected to select qualified applicants and carry out comprehensive interviews of short-listed candidates.
