BCP revives website

They intend to integrate various features and links of the World Wide Web for easy interaction of BCP leadership, party members and the public. In a press statement released yesterday, BCP publicity secretary Taolo Lucas said of the links; the BCP website will have its current BCP Facebook group page which can be accessed through Facebook search of 'Botswana Congress Party - BCP'.

Through its website, the BCP will publish official documents like its founding document, Development and Democratic Programme, BCP's Democracy Alert 1 and 2, speeches by its leadership, BCP responses to the State of the Nation Addresses and national budgets of previous years.

BCP policies will be published through this site and registration of new membership will also be conducted online, says Lucas.

'The revamping of the BCP website comes as a result of the recent merger of the Botswana Alliance Movement (BAM) and the Botswana Congress Party (BCP) in May 2010,' writes the publicity chief.  On the other hand, the BCP central committee is reported to have resolved that the BCP membership which was previously renewed annually at a cost of P5, now lasts for five years at a cost of P10.

'BCP Life membership which has been obtained at a cost of P100 will be obtained at a cost of P200.  BCP membership numbers from card number one to card number 200 will be sold for P1,000 each to interested BCP members as a fundraising initiative. These changes also come as a result of the recent BAM and BCP merger,' says Lucas.

The publicity secretary also revealed that BCP Women's League will hold its National Congress at Sefhophe ward in Mmadinare area on October 30 and 31.

The Congress will be held to elect a new BCP Women's League Central Committee.
