Mongala's frustration continues at Pirates

Mongala, who joined Pirates last season, has fallen further down the perking order after the arrival of Daine Klate and Tlou Segolela from Supersport United and Bloemfontein Celtic respectively.

Last season, he was competing with Teko Modise on the left wing but with Modise also finding it tough to break into the starting line-up, Mongala can only watch from the sidelines.

Pirates' coach Rudi Krol currently prefers playing Dikgang Mabalane on the right and Klate on the left. Segolela and left-footed dribbling wizard, Mark Mayambela are usually used as substitutes on the wings.

After Mayambela and Segolela's exploits on Sunday, Mongala's chances of playing a role for his club in the final against Moroka Swallows this Saturday look slim. Because of the MTN 8 competition over the weekend, there was no Premier League action. Former Township Rollers' stars Terrence Mandaza and Boitumelo Mafoko had mixed midweek fortunes as their sides engaged in the PSL games on Wednesday.

Mafoko was given his marching orders for a second bookable offence in the second half as his side lost 1-0 to Mamelodi Sundowns. Mandaza on the other hand scored with a powerful header in his side's 2-2 draw against Amazulu. It was Mandaza's first goal on debut. He had been sidelined with injury since joining Platinum Stars from Rollers at the beginning of the season.
