Criminals target Bobirwa businesses

Bobonong Police Station commander superintendent Patrick Mbikiwa in an interview said they have organised a one day business community workshop that will be held in Bobonong under the theme 'Building effective partnership through community policing for a safe and secure nation by 2016.'

He said they have been forced by the escalating number in business crimes in their policing area to organise such a workshop and that they want to urge members of the business community to ensure security of their premises. 'We encourage business owners to at least fence their businesses and hire security companies to guard their property,' he advised.

Mbikiwa encouraged all business people within his policing area to attend. Stakeholders from Serule, Selebi-Phikwe, Botshabelo, Baines Drift and Semolale are expected to attend.

'Cluster members are also invited so that they will know what was agreed upon during their daily patrols,' Mbikiwa said. Former Commissioner of Police Norman Moleboge is expected to officially open the workshop.

During the first quarter of the year the Bobirwa area registered 10 cases of crime targeting business and the same number in the second quarter. Last year the area registered 12 such cases in the first quarter.
