Herdsman accused of raping teen girl

Matsiloje station commander, Superintendent Booker Osupile, revealed that the girl was on the same night referred to Nyangabwe Referral Hospital after the incident where the doctor's report confirmed that she was raped.

According to Osupile, the accused herdsman met the victim with her friends a few metres outside the village where he asked them about the whereabouts of his goats.

Not knowing his intentions the three girls are reported to have told him where his goats were.

He asked them to lead him to the goats. On their way to the goats, the accused reportedly asked the other two to go back and have some tea at home.

He then promised the other girl that he would give her two Pula if she showed him the goats.

Along the way, the man is said to have asked the young girl to give him a kiss and when she refused he allegedly raped her.

Osupile went on to say that the accused man was new in the village, adding that he had just been there for two months working as a herdsman.

He said the man did not deny that he raped the girl.

The man was released while the police await medical results to see if he has any sexually transmitted diseases.
