Boko issues warning

Speaking at a political rally to welcome 89 new recruits from the Botswana Democratic Party to the BNF on Saturday in Moookane, Boko said the first act his government will do is to investigate all crimes relating to the economy and abuse of political office.

'That will be the most important initiative of our early times. The investigations will be nationwide, and they will cover all possible crimes that have been committed by those in government,' he said.

Addressing the new members, Boko promised them that they had found a good political home. 'To discover your humanity, you had to leave the dehumanising experience of supporting abusive policies of the BDP. 'You have found a party that upholds human rights and guarantees your human dignity,' he concluded.

He criticised the BDP government for extravagant spending on extra perks for those in political office, while they cut spending in the areas that concern poor people.

'They continue to spend in new houses for ministers, while they tell you they cannot spend anymore on your children's education. They can afford a new aeroplane for the President while they cannot build you a simple road,' he told a boisterous BNF crowd.

Speaking at the same rally, secretary general, Akanyang Magama, said the Central District could not be referred to as a BDP stronghold.  'We have declared an open season on this region and we will continue to make inroads. In 2014 we will get more councillors in this constituency,' he added.

Vice-president, Isaac Mabiletsa, promised the party faithful to work hard on bringing new members into the party. 'Only hard work can get us this constituency.

However, we have to send a warning to Botlhogile Tshireletso...We are coming to snatch this constituency from you'.

Other speakers at the rally were Rhoda Sekgororoane of the BNF Women's Wing, Malatsi Mokhubame of the BNF Youth League, and councillor, Timothy Mmopi.
