Rollers demolish Nico

Township Rollers continued their winning streak on Saturday when they hammered homeside Nico United 6-1 in a one-sided match in Selebi-Phikwe. Mapalastina came into the game after back-to-back wins against Black Peril and Extension Gunners. Nico coach, Mashinkila Willlard-Khumalo told The Monitor that though the game was one-sided, he was not impressed by the decisions made by referee Omphile Phuthego.

He mentioned that the referee killed the game and the spirit of his players when he gave Bernard Simakwezi a red card in the first half.

'The referee was not being fair. That was a minor incident and the two players bumped into each other. It was not a bookable offence.

We have been complaining about referees for a long time and this is exactly what we have been complaining about,' he fumed. He said such decisions kill football. He noted that it was hard to play with 10 men against the Be MOBILE Premier League Champions. He commended Rollers for the goals they scored, saying they were brilliant.

He said he is now preparing for the game against Mochudi Centre Chiefs on Saturday night at UB Stadium. Rollers coach, Wesley Mondo said he was impressed by the way his boys played. He stated that they have been having a problem with finishing but that has now been sorted out. He said that his charges played according to instructions. 'This was a good game and the plan is to continue playing this way. Six goals is an indication of good play,' said the excited Mondo.
