HHP to rock Bull & Bush this weekend

Show organiser, Seabelo Modibe, says there will also be a new boy often described as the new Motswako king, Casper, of Mafikeng, where HHP hails.  The Friday night event will also feature local boys Eureka, Groove Cartel, DJ TC, German Dollar, and the cover charge is P60, with performances billed to start at 9pm, and the main act by 11pm.  His hits include the smash single from his O Mang Reloaded album Tswaka, Jabba and Tshwara both from YBA 2 NW, to mention but a few.

Just before the June 11-July 11 FIFA 2010 World Cup finals the South African rapper held his first ever performance in Brooklyn, New York, featuring a number of leading rappers there.  His nomination by BET, a US Hip-Hop culture channel, also exposed his music to the American audience for the first time this year as his videos received airplay there.

Hip-Hop Pantsula remains one of the most successful South African rappers and has been contracted to CCP Records for the last 10 years, perhaps proof that his music has lasting power.

To date the South African Motswako star has released 10 albums with CCP Records since 2000.  He has also been featured on 11 compilation albums.  HHP's recent release is an album featuring PJ Powers, a white Pantsula music performer from the '80s.

The South African multi award-winning rapper early in the year took his music a step further by bringing in US rapper Nas to collaborate with him for his new project, Dumela.

HHP decided to pay over R100, 000 just to get a chance to do a 'collabo' with Nas, he describes as his idol. The song with Nas, titled Keledimo, would be released in a 25-track double CD.  In it HHP raps about 'being idolised by people when all he wants is for them to realise he is human'.

Although HHP admits putting back his album release date for three months since August, due to the red tape involved in recording with international stars, he says that it is money he probably 'won't regret spending, as he has got what he wanted'.

HHP began collecting accolades early in his career when nominated for 'Best Newcomer' at the South African Music Awards (SAMA) in 2000.  He would later go on to be nominated for 'Best Rapper' at SAMA 2002 & 2006, 'Best Video' at SAMA 2007 as well as in five categories at the Channel O Awards 2007.

He was also nominated for 'Best African Act' at MTV Europe Music Awards 2007, 'Best Album' and 'Record of the Year' at SAMA 2008, 'Best African Act' at the Nigerian Hip-Hop Awards 2008, 'Best African Act' at the MOBO Awards 2008, and in three categories at the Channel O Awards in 2008.

This year the Motswako king was nominated for 'Best International Act' at the 2010 BET Awards alongside K'Naan, Corinne Bailey Rae, Sade and Estelle. HHP's local partner, Seabelo Modibe says he is very excited to host the star and has promised revellers a top notch show, with imported special lighting for the show, special effects, as well as imported sound system that is sure to blow anyone's mind.
