New BNPC boss to be named soon - Motsumi

Speaking in Gaborone at a special function for new and outgoing BNPC board members, Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, Lesego Motsumi said government would soon make the appointment for the next BNPC chief soon.

'We are hoping that, very soon, we shall deliver to strengthen the organisation,' Motsumi said.

Acting BNPC executive director, Parmond Chandna in an interview at the sidelines of the event said that everyone was looking forward to the appointment of a new director. Chandna would however not shed much light on whether BNPC operations were not affected by delays in appointing a new chief.

'But we are trying our best to continue delivering.  And besides we have a board that guides us,' he said.  Earlier Minister Motsumi had acknowledged the critical role BNPC plays in sensitising Batswana on service delivery.  She said the nation is lagging behind in embracing service delivery adding that the government appreciates what the private sector is doing. 'Time, indeed, is money. We are beginning to follow (suit) as government,' said Minister Motsumi.

'There is a lot of work to do. This is a world of competition,' she added. Experts have already warned Batswana to work hard to reduce hurdles, uncertainty, bureaucratic bottlenecks and continue to invest in infrastructure and skills in order to remain competitive.

New directors that joined BNPC board include Victoria Lekoma, Macheng Macheng, Gabofetswe Malema, Masego Marobela, Simon Meti and Ditshetsa Makepe.  Outgoing are Pearl Matome, Mmoni Mokomane, Baeti Molake, Elsinah Botsalano, Thembo Lebang, Oratile  Moarabi, Theophilus Mooko, Elsie Meinjeities, Abel Modungwa and Rosemary  Mogorosi.
