Hottest rapper to drop debut album

Currently, the hottest thing in music circles worldwide, this is good news for Minaj's local fans, particularly teenagers enjoying her single Your Love on high rotation.

The sex symbol rapper is scheduled to release her debut album Pinky Friday next month.

Minaj is not new in the music industry as those who follow her music know.  She has also appeared on Kanye West's video Monster, which also features Jay-Z.

Her appeal is undeniably intoxicating, as proved by her Your Love hitting number one on the Billboard rap charts, something last achieved by a female hip-hop artist in 2003.This success has cast Minaj in a unique position with her debut album's release on November 23.

The bonus is that she features heavy-hitters Will.i.am and Swizz Beatz, among others, on the album.

Born in Trinidad and raised in Queens, New York, Minaj literally had to deal with life-threatening attacks during her childhood.  Her father was involved in the borough's drug scene.

He would have violent outbursts and punch holes in walls.  Her mother would leave him, only to return, after relocating the family many times.

'It was just really, really volatile and it made me kind of have a lot of anger issues because I wanted to be able to stop it, to be able to protect my family, but unfortunately I was just a child and I couldn't do anything,' she says. (Sowetan.co.za)
