The spirit of Lebasho lives on

An album called The Best of Lebasho Vol 1 has recently hit the music shelves and created much excitement.  It was so unfortunate that the musician left this world at a time when his career was just about to peak.  His last project, an album called Togetherness got a lot of people who had initially dismissed Lebasho as a copycat to think twice.

The track Lorato Leya Shotla got disco enthusiasts in high spirits during the 2002 Christmas holidays.  If you were a keen follower of the musician or perhaps just loved the song, but wondered who played it then you have another chance to own a copy.

One of Lobatlamang's band members, Foster Mogapi  has joined forces with the late musician's younger brother Letlhogonolo to release a compilation of his albums.

'We miss him, but we can never forget him.  He was the very guy who defined disco music in this country and was an inspiration to many.  People have always bothered some of us who used to be in the band enquiring why we disbanded after his death and why we did not at least put one of his albums back into the market.  It was painful because we understood how the fans missed him and we hope the release of this album will at least make his followers feel catered for,' Mogapi said.

He noted that already the two of them are working towards reviving the band.  'Lebasho was actually the name of the band, of course derived from his middle name Bashi,' said Mogapi.
