Palapye councillor arrested

Palapye Police Station Commander Superintendent Kenneth Masole confirmed the incident.

'I can confirm that we have arrested a nominated councillor for driving without a licence and causing malicious damage to government property,' he said.

Superintendent Masole would not give details on the incident but indicated that if found guilty Dick could face not less than three years in prison for damage to government property and a P500 fine for driving without a licence.Palapye Sub Council Chairman Onneetse Ramogapi in an interview expressed regret about the incident and said councillors are leaders and public figures whose conduct should be exemplary.  'A slight mistake that a councillor makes erases all the good he has been doing in the face of the public and such things lower the integrity of the council,' he said.

Ramogapi expressed optimism that Dick would be discharged and continue to serve the community.  Recently another councillor appeared for mention in Palapye Magistrate Court to face charges of stock theft. Yet another councillor also appeared in the same court after he was found in possession of game meat around Martins Drift area.
