Standard Chartered Africa wins key African Banker Award

The African Banker Awards are given to companies which have contributed significantly to the reform, modernisation and expansion of the continent's banking and financial system, driving Africa's sustained economic growth in the process.

Commenting on the latest win for Standard Chartered, CEO David Cutting said: 'I am delighted that we have won this prestigious award.

Standard Chartered uniquely combines international expertise and capabilities with deep-rooted local experience, enabling us to deliver world-class products and services to our customers and clients across Africa.

'This award is a great tribute to the hard work and dedication of our teams who are delivering on our strategy across our fourteen African markets'.

The 'Best Global Bank in Africa' from the African Banker is just the latest pan-African award for excellence that Standard Chartered has received in 2010, having won 'Best Bank in Africa' from Global Finance; and 'Best Bank in Africa', 'Best Project Finance Bank in Africa'; 'Best FX House in Africa'.

Also 'Best Risk Management House in Africa' from Euromoney.

The global recognition Standard Chartered has received in Africa in 2010 is evidence of Africa's growing economic relationships and networks with the rest of the world, particularly with Asia.

Having an extensive and well-established presence in both Asia and Africa is a huge competitive advantage for Standard Chartered.

The Bank's international expertise and global product capability has enabled Standard Chartered to consistently pioneer the introduction of new financial products and services across its African markets- a key factor in its record results for the first six months of the year.
