BDP central committee to address Mogapi electorate

Dintwa left the ruling party in June, only a month after he was elected to the position of deputy chairman of the BOMASE region. Chairman of the region, Nathaniel Moribame confirmed that the party central committee would descend on the ward next month.

'We have already officially informed the electorate about their councillor's move as the regional committee.

They are so bitter and feel that the councillor has betrayed them hence they want the central committee to address them,' he said.

One Moseki from Mmadinare has since been co-opted into the regional committee to fill the position that was left by Dintwa during a recent congress that was held in Selebi-Phikwe.

Moribame said as a region they are still in the dark to the reason behind Dintwa's defection as he had always appeared loyal and faithful to the party without any sign that he would leave. He said Dintwa is the only one in the regional committee who has left for the BMD.

The chairman however said Dintwa's move is a blessing in disguise. 'We feel it is okay because we would have continued working with someone who is untrustworthy.

He said as far as he knows Dintwa did not mention reasons for his departure in his resignation letter to the party. He however said they would be happy to welcome Dintwa back to the ruling party if he reconsiders his move. 'If he wants to rejoin he will be welcomed. BMD has no future in this country.'

During an interview Dintwa said he left the ruling party because some people's interests were followed and respected at the expense of the party constitution.

He also said there were internal rifts among central committee members but there was no forum to inform party members about the problems and ways to address them but instead they were openly said at a freedom square. 'I believe in forum and principles.'

Dintwa said he held a meeting with Mogapi residents to inform them that he is still their councillor until 2014.

'There is no need to bid the electorate farewell because I am still their councillor and I only bid the regional and the branch committee farewell,' he said.
