The National Productivity Convention - which will be officially opened by Vice President Lieutenant General Mompati Merafhe - will bring together 200 delegates from government, business sector, civil society organisations and the labour movement in Botswana.
Under the theme “ Turning Challenges into opportunities” - the Convention is expected in part to deal with the role of productivity in driving the national economy towards 2016 and beyond
The Convention - which is held every two years - will give participating organisations and delegates an opportunity to share information on productivity, promote networking amongst people and organisations and allow organisations and institutions to benchmark best practices.
To that end, the Convention will receive presentations and papers on productivity and performance issues in Botswana. Additionally, companies that are known to have succeeded in improving productivity will present and showcase best practices. Three districts; Kgatleng, Kgalagadi North and Mahalapaye sub-district will also make presentations on how they are driving and achieving performance in their different contexts. Private companies will also deliver presentations and showcase best practices. South Africa and Japan will also deliver presentations on how they have been able to reach higher levels of productivity in their organisations and companies.
The National Productivity Convention is a platform for captains of industry to meet and deliberate on issues of national concern with a view to charting a viable way forward, consolidating Botswana’s position in global competitiveness and higher performance.
The next Convention will be held in 2012.
