Naughty boys' officials clash over substitutions

Naughty Boys' coach, Timmy Setswe stormed off in a huff before the end of the match following the confrontation with his team manager, Desmond Molefhe in the second half. Trouble started when Setswe sought to make a substitution only for Molefhe to block him saying that he could not do so. The team manager insisted that the coach cannot substitute without consulting him.

Setswe countered that as head coach, he can act without consultations before he eventually walked away. 'What is my responsibility if I am not allowed to make substitutions? Why am I sitting on the bench?' the youthful coach asked.

Molefhe dismissed the walkout saying that it did not matter. Despite the quarrel, Naughty Boys held on to their 2-1 lead and survived a late scare from the visiting Mochudi Buffaloes.

Dinoko did themselves a favour by scoring two early goals in the first half though Buffaloes pulled one back before the break.

In the last 20 minutes, the Kgatleng side under Moshe Kooitsewe fired from all cylinders to salvage something from the match and were nearly rewarded during referee's optional time. William Molefhe shot from close range and Naughty Boys' goalkeeper Kabo Ntswaneng spilled the ball but his captain Tendai Mutare arrived in time to avert danger.

Three minutes into the game, Oteng Modise delivered a good corner for defender Thato Motlhabai to open the score. From then on, it was clear the hosts were set on attacking as they sent quick balls to the strikers whenever they gained possession.

Naughty Boys could have gone two up in the 14th minute when Buffaloes' goalkeeper Khumoyame Keitumele dropped a harmless shot from Mutare but fortunately, the other Naughty Boys' strikers appeared to be on holiday.

Puso Mangadi's pace and skill on the right proved troublesome for Naughty Boys. He outplayed three markers in the 25th minute to set up Molefhe whose shot was easily dealt with by Naughty Boys' goalkeeper.

Two minutes later, skilful Melore Tumnelo sent in a dangerous cross from the left and Mompati Baatlhotswe who had been wasteful for most of the afternoon redeemed himself by tapping in to make it 2-0 for Naughty Boys. Two minutes before the break, Molefhe was allowed a free header to pull one back for Buffaloes.
