Funding availed for Tswapong water project

In recent years shortage of water in the Tswapong area has been a cause of concern with residents subjected to queuing in the standpipes in the early hours of the morning.

The water shortage has been mainly attributed to borehole breakdowns with some villages being supplied with water bowsers.

The project will start off with the rehabilitation of water supply at Lerala and Majwaneng villages and then move on to villages such as Lecheng, Mokungwane, Matlhakola, Manaledi, Gootau and Goosekgweng. All these areas experience serious water shortages.

Water shortage has also been experienced in the whole of the Central District Council especially Boteti Sub District, Southern and Central clusters.

In the last council session it was revealed that council is currently working on emergency works to connect two boreholes in Area 4 Kaka ranches to augment water supply in the areas of Kedi, Mopipi, Mokoboxane, Xhumu, Toromoja and Mmadikola.

There has also been a P20 million funding for wastewater collection in areas such as Palapye, Mahalapye, Serowe, Bobonong, Tonota and Shoshong.

Meanwhile other funded projects during the DDP 7 allocations include emergency roads maintenance in the Central District Council to the tune of P32 209 306,00. Then there is the construction of customary court offices in Sebina, Mokobilo, Lerala and Gweta.

Funding has also been availed to the upgrading of Lerala clinic to a model clinic as well as the construction of Palapye bus rank and fire station staff houses.
