The 36-year-old match official passed away on Independence Day at the Scottish Livingstone Memorial Hospital in Molepolole.

Botswana Football Association (BFA) referees' assessor and instructor, Sebaetseng Mokokwe told Mmegi Sport that Kelaletswe died after a short illness. She was admitted at Scottish Livingstone Hospital two weeks ago.

Mokokwe said the late Kelaletswe was the first local woman referee from 2001-2003. She became FIFA assistant referee between 2004 and 2007. At the end of 2007, she went for a FIFA-sponsored instructor's course in England.

She was incorporated into the FIFA referees' list in 2008. She was one of the referees named for the current Premier League season. Mokowe said the referees' commission and the nation has lost someone who contributed a lot to sports. 'She officiated some of the Premier League games and for that matter, we lost someone special,' she said.
