Spartans hold key in volleyball deciders

Spartans' men and women's clubs hold the key to the title as Kutlwano sides have to win the outstanding fixtures against the duo this weekend to lift the titles.

In the men competition, Kutlwano have 42 points while BDF VI is breathing heavily down their necks with 40 points. Kutlwano will collect 45 points should they win against Spartans while BDF VI will end with 43 points if they win their last fixture. Kutlwano have won all their 14 games while BDF VI has lost once.

The Zone VI champions who have just won the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) Four-Nations tournament are still favoured to lift the league title as they carry too much fire-power against Spartans.

In the women competition, Kutlwano surrendered top spot last week to Mafolofolo. Kutlwano have played nine games while Mafolofolo have completed their fixtures and will eagerly await tomorrow's outcome. Kutlwano is second with 27 points, one adrift of Mafolofolo. If they win their last game, they will lift the title with two points ahead of Mafolofolo.  Kutlwano coach, Isaac Samuel said they are under pressure ahead of the weekend match but they are ready to fight. He said their good performance at the Four-Nations tournament last weekend has motivated them. He believes that Spartans are not a hard nut to crack. Samuel said the men's side chances of winning the league were brightened after their win against Police. He attributed the good run to teamwork. Men's champions will walk away with P40, 000 while the women will pocket P30, 000. Mascom sponsored the league with P 1million.
